  • Lots of snow and deer, but no campers yet.

In winter, we visit campers in their homes . . .

. . . and recruit new quiet, quality campers wherever we go.

Campers send us wonderful holiday family photos.

And great news of special accomplishments!

Fall and spring Uncle Dave goes from camp to campus.

But he still has time for cookie-making.

Aunt Trudi serves as a volunteer. . .

. . . especially for holding the new granddaughter!

    Friends send unusual butterfly pictures.

And we visit indoor butterfly gardens. . .

    . . . until our own mariposas appear. . .

    . . . during spring cleaning!

Hi! Ho! Hi! Ho! Houghton College seniors have come to help. . .

    . . . by playing pick-up-sticks on the campsites!

Now the volleyball court is groomed and ready for a game.

Time to get the trailers open. . .

. . . and to stock the store with Jody's new creations.

Next we fill this tank . . .

    . . . and empty this one.

    A touch of paint here . . .

    . . . and some smooooothing here.

No task too small to dress up the place!

Uncle Dave is always the first one in the pool.

Many hands get the cover back on.

Thanks, Houghton Academy, for help with the spring chores.

Here comes the first new RV!

And some very happy campers too.

The audience is gathered for the opening ceremonies.

So out with the dock. . .

. . . and on with the fishing!!

Fred and his pond friends are back.

And so are the campers. . .

    . . . ready to enjoy breakfast al fresco . . .

    . . .to start a construction project. . .

    . . . to snuggle in the sunshine after a swim. . .

    . . .and to enjoy birthday cake. . .

. . . after Games Night in the Lodge!

Special Memorial Day activities include the sailboat regatta . . .

. . .where Uncle Dave never says "Wave to the old people!"

Springtime baby spotted along the trail

Early summer babies on the patio

Lots of young wildlife running around!

    More "young wildlife" running around??

And lots of beautiful flowers too - like these waterlilies near the dock.

Nice catch - the fishing has been great this summer.

Hmmm. . .I smell a fish story here!

    Mostly our insects are friendly.

But the Department of Environmental Conservation told us about the emerald ash borer. . .

. . .which can be transported by firewood.

"Purple traps" attract the emerald ash borer. . .

. . .and are installed to track the spread of this insect which kills ash trees.

The DEC left us a craft project to teach the kids. . .

. . .but we made dragonflies first!

When we lowered the trap after a month, we found NO emerald ash borers.

July is for road improvements. . .

. . . and the big bubbles of Bubblefest!

. . . where we also create pictures with old fashioned soap paint!

    Did you say "old fashioned"?

Rainy days mean road repair. . .

. . . but may not interfere with the afternooon swim!

Rainy days mean more time for crafts.

Showers outdoors inspire lovely flowers indoors!

Geocaching, a "high tech treasure hunt" is fun for all ages.

Get instructions, decode the hints. . .

. . .and use your GPS to find the hidden cache.

Take a prize, leave a prize and sign the log!

Go geocaching at campgrounds across the state.

Some of our activities are more low tech.

    But all measure up . . .

    . . .to providing creativity . . .

    . . . and FUN!!

    Quality time with mom.

    It's August. . .

Ice cream socials are tasty too!

One last DEC check for ash borers - none found.

Campers knew all about the traps and firewood concerns.

Continued campaign: Don't move firewood; it BUGS me!

Yes, we have tent sites - enough for a soccer team!

. . . for neighborly fun and fellowship.

Some neighbors just stop in for ice cream.

Aha! - the annual chickenfest for the resident campers!

The Admiral cooks a superb chicken - yum!

Even so, some folks prefer dessert first.

Campers gather in October for the closing ceremony.

    Off goes the fountain.

    In comes Fred. . .

. . .our loyal rain gauge and wagon-ride greeter!

Wave good-by to the last campers!

Time for the fall cleanup. Brrr. . .

. . . on the day of the first snowfall!

Load up the Lodge for winter storage.

    And put away the playthings.

    Hurry back!
